About
No Child Left Behind’s Party in the Park event will take place on Friday 2 August 2024; which will be in place of National Play Day and feature a diverse range of children’s activities and entertainment.
Cheltenham families are invited to enjoy a fun day out in the park this summer, with lots of free activities and entertainment on offer. Families with children who may find the main event overwhelming can come to a quiet hour from 10am to 11am.
Throughout the day there will be live performances in music, dance and theatre, a variety of roaming entertainment and many more fun things to do for young children and young people, tying in with the Paris Olympics 2024.
There will be four areas or zones across the park and Prince of Wales Stadium, with different activities in each area. Highlights will include circus skills workshops, creative arts activities and physical activities including, a climbing wall, rugby and inflatables.
The event will also provide healthy meals for around 400 children from more vulnerable backgrounds, funded through the Holiday Activity and Food Scheme (HAF), as well as offering an advice village to families, where a range of support and guidance will be available from local community organisations.
Visit the No Child Left Behind website and social media channels where full details will be shared.
Over the summer a host of fun events and activities aimed at giving children and young people the space, time and freedom to play, will return to Cheltenham as part of NCLB's Summer of Play.
In the past, over 20 local organisations have come together to offer provision to children throughout the summer. Some of the highlights have included animal experience days at Cheltenham Animal Shelter, football camps with Cheltenham Town FC and a variety of trips to Sandford Parks Lido, Laser Tag and Go Ape.
The exciting range of experiences includes the popular holiday activities and food scheme (HAF) which is funded by the Department of Education for families eligible for benefits-related free school meals, and a grant funded activities programme for all children and young people (HAP), both commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council.
